The best magic I’ve ever seen live is the closeup work of Damian Surr. I’ve seen him a couple of times and his magic always recalibrates my eyebrows.
I was stood in a small group once, in a high-ceilinged hotel ballroom and Damian was doing a bit of card trickery. He had the guy next to me sign a card and put it back into the pack.
We’re all staring intently at the stack of cards between Damian’s nimble fingers, alert for any trickery, when he invites us to look to the heavens.
And right there, about ten feet above our heads, squarely attached to the ceiling and facing downwards, is the signed card we’d been trying to keep track of.
I have literally no idea how he pulled it off.
