Why would someone book a regular magician, then change their mind having found Gingermagic?
Last month, I had a Wedding enquiry from Emma and Graham. I had a quick call with Graham, followed up with an email, and then arranged a video call with all three of us. A couple of days after that, Graham got back in touch to book me for their wedding in June.
Nothing out of the ordinary so far, but after confirming my performance Graham surprised me. He said that Emma had already provisionally booked a different magician a couple of months ago! She found the other guy online and they were going to go with him.
My first response was to feel bad. Although I couldn’t have known that another performer had been offered the job, I’m not comfortable taking work from other magicians. And I have never, to my knowledge, undercut anyone.
I was relieved to find out that wasn’t the case. Not only was I not undercutting the other magician, but I was almost double his price!
So, why did they switch to the Ginger feller?
That’s exactly what I wanted to know, so I asked them for a brief interview for this case study.
“The performer we had booked would have ticked the box of ‘Magician’, but he just didn’t seem special, so we kept on searching”, said Graham.
Emma went on, “That’s when we found the Gingermagic website and got in touch with you.”
I had to ask, “What was it that made you stop searching when you found my site?”
Graham responded, “From what we could see online, you seemed to be very friendly, personable and a talented magician. Then, when we got in touch, you provided consistently good communication and really listened to us. That resulted in the performance options that you offered being exactly what we wanted.”
“The magician we’d provisionally booked had already maxed out our intended budget, so we surprised ourselves by even considering paying almost twice that amount”, continued Emma. “However, we are so glad that we went for it. We are much more comfortable with your manner and personality. You are the person who we want interacting with our guests. We are very happy with our decision.”
Graham summed it all up …
“Our experience thus far with Damian has been both professional and extremely reassuring. We spoke over Skype which was a fantastic way for us to meet Damian and discuss our plans for the day. This gave us the confidence we needed to go ahead and book.”
